Ingredients of Sambar 5 Servings
- 1 Packet My Online Vipani Sambar Cut Vegetables Kit.
- Toor Dal (Sambar Parippu) – 1 Cup
- Tamarind (Puli) – one small ball
- Turmeric powder – 1 tsp
- Asafoetida (Kayam) – a pinch
- Mustard seed – 1 tsp
- Dry red chillies – 3 (cut into small pieces)
- Curry leaves
- Coriander Leaves – A few
- Salt – As requires
- Coconut Oil – 4 Tbsp
- Sambar masala powder – 2 tsp
- Coriander powder – 2 tsp
- Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
Step 1
Wash the dal thoroughly and cook it with My online Vipani Sambar cut vegetables Kit in a pressure cooker by adding enough water, salt and turmeric powder for 2 whistles.
Step 2
In between soak tamarind in warm water and then extract the juice from it.
Step 3
Now add the tamarind juice to cooked dal vegetable mixtures; stir and cook on low flame for some more time, adjust the salt level.
Step 4
Sprinkle asafoetida powder and bring to boil.
Step 5
Mix in the sambar powder, coriander powder and chilli powder and sauté for a couple of minutes on low flame.
Step 6
Meanwhile heat oil in a pan, add the mustard seeds and allow it to splutter, throw the dried red chillies and half of the curry leaves and fry for a minute.
Step 7
Pour this seasoning to the sambar, sambar mix well for a few minutes. Remove from flame and sprinkle chopped coriander leaves and remaining curry leaves.
Step 8
Mix the curry well before serving.
